Man Found Dead After Asking The Wasted Onion For A Source
HOOPER BAY, AK—Leaving the local community reeling, 34-year-old carpenter Finlay Shaw was found dead Monday morning, just hours after leaving a comment on social media asking The Wasted Onion for a source.
"We can confirm that the body of a 34-year-old male was found in a ditch by a dog walker on Monday at 9:46am," said Angelique Sawyer, Chief of Police for the Hooper Bay Police Department. "Following a forensic inspection, we can confirm the deceased is Finlay Shaw, a carpenter well-known in the local area. At this time, we are actively pursuing suspects and lines of inquiry. One major focus is the victim's online activity, which shows he recently dared ask The Only News Source to provide a citation for its claims, which is never a good idea."
Mr. Shaw's comment, which he left under a Facebook post of a news story by The Wasted Onion, simply reading "source?," is being viewed by investigators as a potential motive for his death. Authorities note there are now 35 unsolved deaths linked to the suspected foul play of the news outlet, allegations which the publication vehemently denies. "We do not hold grudges against those who question the legitimacy of The Only News Source's reporting," read a statement from the news outlet's lawyer Paul Woodman. "For we are far too busy rigging foreign elections and hiring North Korean hackers to infiltrate the U.S. nuclear stockpile instead."
"It is frankly ridiculous to imply that my corporate empire kills people for mild criticism," said Clef Bozos, CEO of The Wasted Onion's parent company, The Wasted Company. "We are running some of the most successful businesses in the world, like The Wasted Onion, Theranos, Fyre Festival, Wirecard, Enron, and Lehman Brothers. Do you truly believe I would have time to arrange for a hitman to travel all the way from a remote village in Bhutan to Hooper Bay, acquire a poison dart that instantly kills its victim while leaving no trace of a toxin in a person's body, track Finlay Shaw by calling my contacts at Palantir, and then have The Wasted Onion write this article to deflect any suspicion? Don't be so preposterous!"
At press time, an autopsy of Mr. Shaw's corpse revealed that a small message scrawled across his left foot that simply read: "look who's wasted now!"
