Israel Found To Be Torturing Palestinian Prisoners By Playing Temper City's ‘Self Aware’ On Loop
JERUSALEM, ISRAEL—Revealing new depths of institutional cruelty, a whistleblower report released Tuesday disclosed that IDF personnel have been subjecting Palestinians in Israeli custody to psychological torture by playing Temper City's viral single "Self Aware" on loop.
"While it is already widespread knowledge that Palestinians face horrific conditions inside Israeli prisons, we can now confirm a new, unprecedented level of cruelty," said Dr. Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International, who provided the whistleblower report exclusively to The Wasted Onion. "Today, it can be revealed that the Israel Defense Forces are subjecting Palestinians in custody to unimaginable psychological torture by playing the TikTok viral indie rock single ‘Self Aware’ by Temper City on a 24-hour loop. This is a level of psychic damage that no human being should never be forced to endure."
The report details how detainees were forced to listen to the Israeli rock band's 3-minute long track for days on end, a form of cruel and unusual punishment currently left unaddressed by the Geneva Conventions or any international human rights legislation. Furthermore, internal memos noted how IDF soldiers operating the sound system were blissfully unaware of the irony of using a song titled ‘Self Aware’ to torture a group they are oppressing with impunity.
"I wish that I could lie, but I'm way too self aware, I'm glad they're suffering," said National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir following the reports publication. "Yeah, we make those fuckers listen to that song over and over again. We won't stop. We can't stop. I mean, it's just perfect. The frontman of the goddamn band was literally in the IDF! It's almost like the track was engineered in a lab to make the ears of so-called Palestinians bleed."
At press time, further reports revealed that Mossad had covertly orchestrated Temper City's spots on major global music festival lineups, despite the group having only two publicly released songs, with the explicit purpose of making festival-goers' ears bleed worldwide.
