Netanyahu, Opposition Leaders Reassure Israelis That Whichever Coalition Forms Government Will Maintain Complete Disdain For Palestinians
JERUSALEM, ISRAEL—Following the most consequential election in the nation's history, where no party has won a clear majority, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and opposition leaders assured voters Friday that the next Israeli government will maintain its long-standing policy of complete disdain for Palestinian lives no matter which coalition ends up victorious.
"While Likud represents an existential threat to our democracy, I want to offer the Israeli public some clarification," said Gadi Eisenkot, leader of opposition party Yashar, during a press briefing. "A coalition that is led by our bloc will ensure that the occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, and other territories remain intact. No blockade will be removed, and Palestinian's human rights will be treated with the total contempt that you have come to expect from your government. You have my word."
Alongside Yashar, other opposing party leaders joined in a unified call to dismiss any and all concerns regarding the dignity of the Palestinian people, including Naftali Bennett of the Together alliance, Yair Golan of The Democrats, and Avigdor Lieberman of Yisrael Beiteinu. While the parties remain fiercely divided over economic policy, judicial reforms, and the exemption of ultra-Orthodox citizens from military service, they unanimously agreed that a total disregard for any Palestinian life was a non-negotiable prerequisite for joining any future coalition.
"While my opponents would have you believe they despise the so-called Palestinians, in reality, they won't protect you like I will," said Netanyahu during an address at Likud's headquarters. "To be absolutely clear, people like Eisenkot are simply weak, he knew that he could not win this election if he regarded the Palestinians as anything but scum. So he decided to plagiarise our most pivotal campaign message of unending violence, suffering, and misery inflicted upon Palestinians. A government not led by me will never be as cruel to the rights of Palestinians because they are merely masquerading, I embody it."
At press time, Likud, Yashar, Together, The Democrats, Yisrael Beiteinu, and their associated blocs unanimously agreed to pretend that Arab-led parties were figments of the Israeli public's imagination.
